About the Position
VACANCY: Nutrition Liason Officer
Reporting to the Nutrition Manager, this position's overall objective within the External Affairs Division is to communicate accurate science-based nutrition information especially in the area of sugar and health to internal and external stakeholders.
Implement SASA's Nutrition Public Health Education Program, plan, implement and co-ordinate participation in programme with the Nutrition Manager to communicate and provide a platform for engagement to correct misconceptions regarding sugar and health.
Liaising with professional associations, health professionals in companies and government and other relevant stakeholders to arrange and implement identified activities.
Facilitate SASA's Nutrition Training Kit Programme; the program promotes up-to-date nutrition information through communication with nursing educators in private and government nursing campuses and sub-campuses in South Africa.
Facilitate SASA's Print and Publications programme, plan, implement and co-ordinate development, updating, reprinting, and distribution of nutrition educational material in consultation with the Nutrition Manager, External Affairs team secretary and external nutrition specialists to ensure material is relevant to the target audience and that quality information is distributed to health professionals and the public.
Liaison with external warehousing company regarding storage and distribution of educational material.
Promote SASA's nutrition programmes (specifically the Print and Publications, Nutrition Training Kit and Public Health education programs) at congresses and events with a view to establishing new contacts and increasing the usage of SASA's material by stakeholders across all SASA's nutrition programmes
Requirements / Competencies:
A HPCSA registered Dietician/Nutritionist with completed qualifying degree and post graduate requirements for the discipline.
Must have at least 3 years of appropriate experience.
Multilingual in the English and isiZulu will be an advantage.
A willingness to travel and spend extended periods away from home.
Computer literate, Word and PowerPoint essential.
Good organizational, presentation and communication skills.
In possession of a driver's license and own transport.
